Moab Trail Work

Well, it turns out, I didn't go race in Mesquite afterall this last weekend. I decided to save the cash I would have spent on beer, gambling, and debauchery for some of my more favorite races later to come. However, I did do something pretty productive with my weekend. Oz and I went to Moab to do a little trail work with a buddy from the non profit motorized access group, Ride With Respect, on some of the most primo motorized single track in the state. I'm proud to say I get to help out on this trail. The new section will open in March and I can't wait to ride it. Ride With Respect has done a stellar job on this trail system. Even tho I didn't race, I was still a little sore the next day after we lugged a 2500 Honda generator in a wheel barrow, rock bars, and a Hilti drill through the technical single track. The snow covered north facing downhills were interesting trying to negotiate a wheel barrow packing a generator. Running the drill was fun. Breakin rocks is always theraputic to me somehow. Oz seems to like a little trail work too and is proving to be a good trail side kick. As for the rest of February I'll be concentrating on getting ready to hit the Rhino Rally in St. George at full force. More to come!!

Saturday Ride Report

Saturday's ride was awsome!! Headed down to Green River to meet up with some folks from my dirtbike club, Sage Riders. The trail we rode was a new one for me and it rocked. Mostly single track, my favorite. The trail was technical enough that the 15 degree weather wasn't an issue. I got to see some new areas and found some rock art that I hadn't seen before. Also took in some creative rock formations as you can see from the photo. It's appropriately named, so I'll let your imaginations figure it out. Only had a couple spills, one on some slick ice, so not too bad for no seat time in the last month and a half. I can see that I'm gonna have to step it up tho, or I won't be much competition for the new fast chicks that are racin this year. Well for the rest of the day its bike prep for next weekend and house cleaning. May take the Jeep for an excursion on Monday for my government holliday, if so I'll have new pics to post. Lata, Kari

It's Friday!!!

Well it's finally Friday and lookin forward to a long weekend. Since I'm a government slacker I get monday off. Planning to do some riding near Green River, UT tomorrow in the cooooold!! I think I better get some ride time in before the first race of the season next weekend in Mesquite, NV. Looking forward to racing again. That means tonite I'll be finishing bike prep. Hopefully things go better than last night. As I was changing a front tire, I managed to pinch a brand new tube, an ended up spilling a fresh adult beverage into my toolbox as a result of the tantrum I threw because of said tube pinching. Managed to put another tube in, this time the right way so now all I have to do is put the wheel back on the bike. Should go pretty smoothly. Fingers crossed. I'll add ride pics to my next post!
